We are delighted to announce that Folu Odimayo and Roseann Dendy will be the 11th and 12th recipient of our studio residency at SET Woolwich!
Folu Odimayo is a director and choreographer from south London. At the centre of his practice is an interest in poetry and the articulation of the body to tell stories.

Finding ways in which movement can be used like words to communicate experiences and expressions. Whilst using the play of poetic imagery and writing to colour in scenes, in a sliding scale between abstraction and naturalism.
Within his current work he is looking at how archetypes and mythology still inform us today, and how the relations between these energies and stories play out within societal dynamics between each other and the world around us.
Roseann is a choreographer from the outskirts of Glasgow. Their work concerns itself with the lived experience of being queer and working class; using the body as an archival vessel to explore stories of their youth, grapple with the intersections of their identity and create space for unedited intensity, viscerality and catharsis.

They are a cofounder of Tough Boys, a dance theatre collective currently working as Young Associate Artist at Sadler's Wells. Alongside artist and friend Sula Castle, they come together to make work that lives in a landscape that oscillates between tenderness and brutality. Within a high octane movement vocabulary, Roseann & Sula care about finding honesty within the body. By responding to the world as they see it, they use a phenomenological approach to continually question the fundamental human condition and its intersections queerness, patriotism, religion and class.
Since 2021, the Working Class Creatives Database has hosted 12 artist residencies at SET Woolwich, focusing on supporting those who often face barriers in accessing studio spaces. This time, we’re prioritising performers from working-class backgrounds offering a rare chance for performers to ground their practice in one place for an extended period.
This residency wouldn't be possible without SET Woolwich & the kind donations from you lot! If you have a spare quid or 2 please consider supporting us! We are currently fundraising for heaters and soft flooring
