Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist

Location:

Newcastle upon Tyne

ABOUT:

Sofia is a multidisciplinary artist hailing from the North East of England. Her vibrant designs draw inspiration from her Punjabi heritage and the beauty of the natural world.

Sofia's artistic journey began in her youth, sparked by her grandfather's collection of Indian matchboxes. The intricate patterns and rich history imbued in these everyday objects left a lasting impression, forming the foundation of her artistic style today.

Sofia's creative expression takes many forms. She handcrafts beautiful prints, creates stunning murals that add life to public spaces, and conducts cultural workshops that share the wonders of her heritage.

When not channeling her creativity into art, Sofia can be found exploring the captivating coastlines near her home, a steaming cup of chai tea in hand.

Sofia has worked for BBC Scotland and been commissioned by BALTIC, Northern Pride and Historic England.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
