About:
Rebecca Culverhouse is a neurodiverse artist filmmaker from Burnley. She has a strong background in commercial filmmaking, directing work for brands such as Nivea, Marie Curie and Wilderness Festival, as well as shorts, music videos and branded content in London, Tokyo and Berlin.
Having synaesthesia means that life is full of trippy visions only she can see. Everything has a colour, from words, numbers and scents to music. This naturally augmented view of reality is a constant reminder that perception is subjective, and true reality lies beyond our senses. Rebecca primarily works with oil paintings and moving image to explore this idea, alongside themes of perception, memory and normality.
