Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Megan Jepson is an accomplished and award-winning visual creative. Known for her skills in photography, directing, and editing, Megan has become the go-to creative talent in the region. Her impressive portfolio is filled with bold, dynamic projects, all of which completed in collaboration with renowned global brands.
Megan's creative vision and distinctive perspective are at the heart of her work, which are deeply rooted in her upbringing in Scarborough, a seaside town in North Yorkshire. The experiences of living in an underprivileged area have profoundly influenced the identity of Megan's brand, driving her unwavering determination to tell authentic stories that evoke genuine emotions. This theme has become an integral part of her brand's DNA, infusing documentary-style photography and videography with a raw and sincere essence. Her voice can be heard loud and clear in her series Scarborough Girls, an intimate exploration of the community and complexity of women in her hometown which captures their stories with honesty and intimacy.
Through her art, Megan continuously sheds light on the strength, resilience, and spirit of individuals from disadvantaged communities. Her remarkable talent has been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Portrait of Britain award in 2018 and 2020. Her captivating portrait, Shona and Bella, stood out among a staggering 15,000 entries, earning her a place among the top 100 winners. Her photographs were prominently displayed on JCDecaux screens across the country as part of a national exhibition, and they can also be found in the Portrait of Britain Vol.3 Book.
Currently, Megan is working on her latest documentary project, The Hoppings, which delves into the captivating world of the individuals who bring funfairs to life. She also plans to revive her successful series, Scarborough Girls, and has several other exciting projects in the pipeline, showcasing her unwavering passion for storytelling and her commitment to capturing the essence of individuals and communities in her work.
