Lou Bradley

Discipline:

Multidisciplinary artist mainly sculpture

Location:

Bristol UK

ABOUT:

I sculpt using reclaimed materials and ceramics. Scavenging and rescuing discarded furniture and wood transforming them into something new. These domestic assemblages act as plinths for delicate ceramics reminiscent of both body parts and house hold ornaments.
The work holds an autobiographical narrative of working-classness, queerness, femininity and relationship to various landscapes.

I also work as an art psychotherapist where I engage in the ongoing practice of self-exploration with myself and with others. I view artwork as self-extension, and a way of externalising what is held within as a process of healing, transformation and change.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
