ABOUT:

Hello, I'm Jessica Tyler, an actor, writer, producer, and facilitator, originally from the County Durham pit villages and now based in London. I was born into the aftereffects of neoliberalism and grew up in a community suffering the devastating impact of Thatcher's legacy. Working class storytelling, framing, and narrative run through me like a stick of rock.

I have experience in Meisner technique, acting for film, as well as in scripted, devised, and physical theatre. I have performed, devised, directed and produced for theatre and short films in the UK, Catalonia, and Mexico. I speak English, British Sign Language, French, and Spanish with a Mexican accent.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
