Ilsa Elford

Discipline:

Visual artist

Location:

Colwyn Bay

ABOUT:

I am mostly a painter but try all sorts of things and really enjoy making art basted on a theme and getting into the nitty gritty of the subject. I create a lot of small finished work on the lead up to a project and make large work based on research and visual enquiries. The subjects of my work are often enviromental and society based tripping between what a wonderful world we live in to what have we done. I learn about my subject but also feel it to and my art takes a personal view point. In my art I use a lot of bright colour and a kind of rustic/folky aesthetic with a bit of neon thrown in. My work is Serious, skilled, not at all minimal or safisticated or trying to be.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
