Discipline:

Photographer, Audio Producer, Film maker, Podcaster

Location:

Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria

ABOUT:

Most of my work is with brilliant collaborators, be they important social and community projects, personal photography projects, or exciting podcast documentary productions for communities.

I co-founded self/other CIC along with anthropologist Simon Newitt and designer Emily Macaulay back in 2019. We work on participatory ethnographic projects which often end up as books.

I partner up with my twin brother on sound and music projects.

I have several personal photography projects on the go. One is an in-depth look at Work and all its layers and facets called Beyond Work.

Pre 2014 I co-founded and worked at People Who Do between 2008 and 2014. I developed and ran a global music programme for Heineken between 2002 and 2008. I helped set up radio stations in Brighton, produced radio shows and made records during the '90s.

I'm one of the co-founders of www.classdivide.co.uk, a group trying to make education fairer in Brighton and Hove, on the council estate I grew up on in a place called Whitehawk.

I go hiking and wild camping a lot. Sometimes I photograph those adventures.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
