Glasgow

ABOUT:

Courtney is a Director and Dramaturg with a fondness of telling of untold tales and the transformative power of storytelling. From assisting the vibrant crew of Tortoise in a Nutshell in Edinburgh to Directing Open Barn Productions’ rendition of Jim Cartwright’s “Road,” her passion for theatre pulses through every scene.

Courtney believes theatre transcends entertainment. It’s a platform for amplifying voices, sparking dialogue, and holding a mirror to our shared humanity. As a Working Class and Care experienced woman, her dedication to pushing artistic boundaries and fostering meaningful connections through art is at the centre of her work. She has also worked with Citizens Theatre on their 'WAC' programme which supports care experienced young people to make theatre.

Engaging audiences through participatory practice, she thrives on leading immersive theatre workshops, nurturing collaborative storytelling and empowering individuals to discover their own voices on the stage.

WORKS:

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
